What is it all about?
Meet Hannah, an aspiring author and emotional wreck played by Lena Dunham (who writes the series too). She lives with Marnie, who's uptight, bored and stuck with her drippy boyfriend who she can't stand to be in the same room with. Then there's Jessa, their crazy British friend who likes to have sex with guys in public toilets, and her cousin Shoshanna who's still a virgin and struggling to cope with the big wide world.

Lesson No.1: Being mean to someone won't sort out your problems
Giving your man the silent treatment, shouting at him and denying sex as a 'punishment' like Marnie isn't the best way to cope with your problems. Eventually Marnie and Charlie split, but she can't help but feel pangs of jealousy when she sees him with his new girlfriend. The moral of the story? Discuss your problems like grown-ups and leave the mind games for teenagers.
Lesson No.2: Don't let fear hold you back
Poor Shoshanna, she's going through life like a deer caught in the headlights. Throughout series one she's a virgin looking for a meaningful relationship with a handsome banker or lawyer. By the end of the series she's slept with slimy Ray and not feeling happy about it (even though he's turning out to be quite a nice guy after all). Slowly Shosh is letting go of her nervousness, branching out and wearing her kooky hats with pride. You go girl!

Lesson No.3: Having a threesome isn't something you should just 'do'
When Jessa and Marnie get a little bit carried away on a night out they soon find themselves in a strange man's apartment initiating a threesome. Let's just say it doesn't end well. Basically Girls teaches us that all impromptu sexy times are doomed to fail, so think before you get naked!
Lesson No.4: Never ever sleep with your boss
During series one Jessa starts an incredibly uncomfortable relationship with a married father of two, who happens to be her boss. She doesn't care for the rules and even ends up causing a public brawl that lands him in hospital. Soon afterwards Jessa realises that she can't storm though life ignoring the consequences of her actions. So what does she do? She marries a man after a two week courtship in a secret ceremony/party...
Lesson No.5: Sometimes a bit of fun is the best medicine
Hannah and Adam are pretty much a car crash, but you know it's something special when you can dance like crazy people and still find each other attractive. Check out the scene below and let us know what you think...
