Andy Lau's "Switch" to be released

14 Mar – Andy Lau's 3D action film, "Switch" will finally be released in cinemas this year after the initial delay caused by China's rigorous censorship.

As reported on Jayne Stars website, the movie was set for a October 2012 release, but was postponed due to its failure to meet China's rigid censorship guidelines – and cited as missing music and breaching the country's security.

The movie went through more editing, but as soon as it was approved, Andy allegedly did not like the special effects and another round of filming had to be done.

However, the release of its latest trailer on 12 March is a sign that the film will finally be released soon.

A collaboration of four major studios - China Film Company, Pegasus Entertainment, Media Asia Film Production and Phoenix Satellite Television, "Switch" tells the story of a top Chinese agent (Andy Lau) who has to battle a multi-national organisation in order to recover the country's stolen national treasure – the "Dwelling in the Fuchun Mountains" painting. The film also stars Chiling Lin, Zhang Jingchu and Tong Dawei.

According to its director, Jay Sun, "It is not your run-of-the-mill spy movie. When you think of spy movies, naturally you will think of James Bond franchise or The Bourne Legacy. We don't want viewers to see this as another typical Chinese action-packed movie. "Switch" is a combination of all that – packed with action which includes suspenseful spy wars and a little love story thrown in."
