"Brother's Keeper" allegedly copied past TVB series

29 Sep – Ruco Chan and Edwin Siu's new TVB series, "Brother's Keeper", may have only premiered recently, but the series has already been criticised for supposedly copying the plot of "The Change Of Time" series.

According to Apple Daily website, as "Brother's Keeper" is a story about how two brothers ended up with different fates when they were separated in the 1980s, with some of the scenes set in that era.

However, netizens stated that several props that were not in the '80s can be seen in the first few scenes, including air-conditioned buses, Hong Kong's new pedestrian islands and CCTV cameras.

Apart from criticisms regarding the many inaccuracies, a netizen recently stated that the series has a lot of similarities to the 1992 series that starred Frankie Lam and Francis Ng.

Not only that both series are directed by Amy Wong, the characters are also similar, such as Louise Lee playing a mother who fails to illegally enter Hong Kong with her son and her husband marrying someone else in Hong Kong.

Additionally, both series span two generations, with the two brothers looking for their birth fathers in Hong Kong to be reunited as a family, both getting entangled in rivalry and hatred with each other, and that main villain is one of the brothers who was initially good but had to turn to crime to achieve their goals.

In "Brother's Keeper", Ruco and Edwin falls in love with Linda Chung's character while in "The Change Of Time", both Francis and Frankie pursued Gigi Lai's character.
