Carina Lau: I am priceless!
18 Nov – Hong Kong actress Carina Lau recently admitted that she is inspired by Chow Yun-fat's alleged willingness to donate 99 percent of his wealth to society after his death.
According to Yes Entertainment website, the "Bends" actress, who made an appearance at the launch of a Valentino flagship store in Shanghai on 14 November, stated that she is considering doing that as well.
However, she is not equally as willing to donate her entire life savings. The 47-year-old actress stated, "Although I will not be able to take my wealth with me after I die, I have to make proper arrangements first so that my family is taken care of. Only then will I donate what's left. Ultimately, my wealth comes from society."
When asked how much will she donate Carina expressed, "Will I donate 800 million or 1 billion? I, Carina Lau, am priceless! How can I just donate that much? My husband [Tony Leung] is very generous. I can discuss this with him later."
Meanwhile, Carina also talked about their charitable organisation, the TLC Foundation, saying, "The foundation mainly helps seniors and children in need and Valentino will donate some of its proceeds from its new line to the cause. Other than that, Tony would donate gifts from friends to charity, and make private visits. But if needed, we might organise a large scale fund raising event like Smile Angels Foundation did."
Carina also added that they are planning to take their charity further, such as establishing a senior citizen home or an education centre for younger children.
