Carina Lau is not confident for winning award

7 Feb – Despite her Best Supporting Actress nomination at the 33rd Hong Kong Film Awards, Hong Kong actress Carina Lau said she will not put a lot of hopes into winning it.

As reported on Oriental Daily, the actress, who was surprised and delighted with her nomination for her role as Empress Wu Zetian in "Young Detective Dee", agreed to a telephone interview with the media recently.

The actress thanked Tsui Hark and producer Shi Nansun for the opportunity to reprise her role in the 2013 movie and enthused, "Of course I am very happy to hear such good news in the New Year. The character [Wu Zetian] is very suitable for me, and I am happy to receive another nomination."

However, when asked if she is confident about winning the award, Carina replied, "I'm taking it very lightly."

Carina will be competing for the award with the likes of child actress Crystal Lee ("Unbeatable"), Kara Wai ("Rigor Mortis"), Du Juan ("American Dreams in China"), as well as Helena Law ("The White Storm").

Meanwhile, the actress revealed that she will be spending Valentine's Day in Berlin with husband, Tony Leung who is serving as a judge for the Berlin International Film Festival.
