Chapman To draws inspiration from Stephen Chow

18 Feb – Chapman To revealed that he has drawn inspiration from actor-turned-filmmaker Stephen Chow to play the role of Tong Pak Fu in his new comedy movie, "Tong Pak Fu Up in the Clouds".

The actor, who recently attended the photography session for the movie with his co-stars Dada Chan and Connie Man, stated that his character will have some of the traits from Stephen Chow's own version of the character in "Flirting Scholar" (1993).

However, Chapman said that he is not afraid of being compared to the comedy actor or even being accused of plagiarising Stephen's performance, saying, "I don't mind being accused of copying him or being compared to him. Quality stuff should have no problem about counterfeiting!"

"How can I surpass Stephen Chow's 100 million Yuan performance? To be able to get one out of ten of his aura would be fine by me," the actor quipped.

When asked if he has bought the movie DVD to research the role, Chapman replied, "There is no need to. The movie is on rerun every Lunar New Year!"

In the new comedy movie, Chapman plays a modern-day pilot who accidentally travels to the past while flying his plane. Upon stumbling across legendary scholar Tong Pak Fu, he knocks him out and takes over his identity.
