Chapman To makes directorial debut

19 Feb – It was reported that Chapman To will be reversing his role as an actor with Pang Ho Cheung and Derek Kwok, and will helm a movie which stars the two directors instead.

As reported on Filmbiz Asia, the comedy actor reportedly will be making his directorial debut with "Miserable World" (tentatively titled), a post-apocalyptic movie set in a world where most of the male inhabitants have been killed by a virus and caused the only two surviving men to become women's prey for sex.

Chapman, who is producing, writing, as well as directing the film, will be doing so with a budget of HKD 10 million (approx. USD 1.29 million) and will begin production in summer.

When asked about his first time playing a leading role in a movie, Pang Ho Cheung, who was last seen in Wong Jing's "Mr. & Mrs. Player", light-heartedly commented, "Actors are very busy with work and their salary are expensive. They are also slowly venturing into directing. So I thought, I might as well star in a movie myself."

"Miserable World" is slated for release during the Christmas season.
