20 Nov – It is a dream come true for movie fans as brothers Chris ("Thor") and Liam Hemsworth ("The Hunger Games") have been confirmed to be sharing the spotlight in the upcoming biographical feature film about Steve McQueen and his stunt double, Bud Ekins, respectively.
The biopic is titled "Triumph AKA 40 Summers Ago", and focuses on the close friendship between McQueen and Ekins. It was producer Jerry Weintraub ("Ocean's Eleven") who was interested in casting the Australian brothers as he felt that they were most suited to depict that bond.
Ekins first came into notice when it was revealed that he was McQueen's double for the legendary motorcycle jump scene in the 1963 film "The Great Escape", as many movie fans thought that McQueen did the jump himself.
As of now, only younger brother Liam has been confirmed to be attached to the project. There is still no definite news from older brother Chris.
Ironically, another biopic on McQueen is currently in the works, starring the older Hemsworth's co-star in "Avengers", Jeremy Renner.
Liam will next be seen in "Empire State" and "Paranoia" while Chris appeared in the recently released remake of the 1984 action war film "Red Dawn", with "Rush" and "Thor: The Dark World" scheduled next.
