Claire Danes loves her "kinky superhero alter ego" TV character.
The actress plays bipolar CIA agent Carrie Mathison in hit Showtime series Homeland. Claire loves playing the confident character as she is so far removed from her own everyday personality.
"She’s like my kinky superhero alter ego now," she told the British edition of GQ magazine. "Because as disturbed and troubled as she is, she’s always f**king right. Which is so nice because I so rarely am."
Claire made an impact on the big screen when she starred alongside Leonardo DiCaprio in Baz Luhrmann's Romeo + Juliet in 1996. She later turned down the lead role of Rose in Titanic - which turned Kate Winslet into a household name.
"I had just made a romantic epic with Leonardo – it just seemed redundant to me. The problem is that I always took myself too seriously. Now I realise I should have lightened up. I was a serious kid to an absurd degree," she admitted.
"I was overwhelmed with responsibility, trying to play grown up. I overdid it."
Despite loving her film and TV career, Claire admits it "really sucks" being away from her husband, British actor Hugh Dancy, when she's shooting on location. The pair are currently expecting their first child together.
