1 Jun – Legendary Hong Kong director Clifton Ko announced that he would be the producer of his old-time partner Raymond Wong's new Chinese New Year comedy, and they would like to shoot some of the scenes in Johor come October this year.
Ko revealed that he had received news from Wong that the team was planning to film their new flick in Johor. However, they had not implemented the exact plan as they still need to scout the Southern part of Malaysia.
The 53-year-old filmmaker believed that the movie, which will be directed by Vincent Kuk, would be able to bring laughter and surprises for the audience.
"We already have ideas for the story, but we still haven't gotten to the casting process," said Ko.
When it comes to the current trend in Chinese comedies however, Ko shared his thoughts that they are lacking in logic and exciting storylines. As a result, the audience would not get the comedic message of the stories.
"I've told Raymond that if we are shooting in Johor, we are going to shoot for one month. Because you can't rush while filming a comedy, we need to give more time to the actors to get along with each other, create chemistry among them. With that, we will be able to present a good piece," said Ko.
Ko, is well-known for gathering the star-studded lineup in 1992's "All's Well, Ends Well", which starred the late Leslie Cheung, Stephen Chow, Raymond Wong, Sandra Ng, Maggie Cheung and Teresa Mo. His other credits including "I Have A Date With Spring", "Happy Ghost" and "Summer Lovers".
