Donnie Yen dismisses high salary rumours

24 Jul – Donnie Yen recently dismissed rumours that he was paid an extravagant fee to act in a movie.

According to Sina Taiwan, at a promotional event for his upcoming movie "Special Identity" in Beijing on 22 July, Donnie stated, "The public love this kind of things. How can my salary possibly be the highest?"

He continued, "People keep talking about how high my salary is now. But how come no one ever talks about my lowest, when I only had HKD 100 in my savings account? The rise and fall of an actor is normal, and how much they are paid doesn't mean anything. They still need viewers to recognise their talent."

When asked if he is worried that these rumours may affect his movies' sales, Donnie confidently said, "I believe that a man should be honest. We can't control what other people are saying. I just want to make a good movie that people want to watch."

"Special Identity" will be released in cinemas in October.
