"The X Factor" returns for its second season this fall and according to FOX's President of Entertainment, Britney Spears will bring a spirited touch to the judges table.
"I think they're gonna be surprised just how feisty she is," FOX boss Kevin Reilly told reporters during the executive session at the FOX portion of the Television Critics Association summer tour, in response to a question from Access Hollywood .
"She is not afraid to lay it on the line," he continued of Spears' judging style. "She's tough. She knows what she's doing. She's been around, she's seen it all and she definitely lays it on the line."
Reilly warned that Spears is not alone in her fiery approach.
"I think we've got a real spitfire with Demi [Lovato], who literally day 1, took on Simon [Cowell]," he said. "So I think we have some really good chemistry going there."
Reilly also said the announcement on who will host the second season could be coming very soon.
"We're pretty close," he added. "It could happen next week, it could happen in two weeks."
When asked about reports that the show may move to the two-host format, something Cowell previously mentioned, Reilly said "The X Factor" judge and boss hasn't made that decision yet.
"He's played with both formulas. I really can't say for sure. I think that's gonna be about who he finally selects and does he like the feel of it," Reilly said.
"The X Factor" premieres Wednesday September 12 on FOX.
