Friday is the most popular day of the week for workers to go and get boozed up with their colleagues. Fair enough.
But 61% of 18-24 year olds have admitted to doing something they’ve regretted while out on the town with workmates.
Potentially damaging future careers, 78% of those surveyed said it was fine to get totalled in front of their colleagues, but that often ended up with them having more than a hangover the next day.
66% of men also confessed that they ended up drinking more than they intended, as opposed to 55% of young women.
The survey carried out by Drinkaware, also said that over half (52%) of those asked also felt they couldn’t keep up with the drinking pace of their colleagues – but felt pressure to.
Most people admitted they went out for after work drinks to try and get to know their colleagues, whilst 40% said they had the fear of missing out.
But it’s not just Friday nights – 54% of those asked also said they had been hungover at work at least once in the last month. Naughty!
Siobhan McCann, Head of Campaigns and Communications at Drinkaware said, “For someone just starting their career, it can be tricky to see the line between having a laugh and embarrassing yourself in front of colleagues."
She added, "Simple tips like eating before drinking, pacing yourself and trying to make every third drink a soft will help keep you and your career on track.”
