So Hung Suen memorial had donation boxes set up

3 Jul – Apart from Newton Lai, another funeral service for veteran actress So Hung Suen was recently held at the Universal Funeral Parlour.

As reported on Wen Wei Po website, many friends in the industry attended the Buddhist ceremony, including Gigi Wong, Nina Paw, Helena Law, and director Johnnie To - the latter rushed from his "Blind Detective" Beijing press conference to pay his respects.

Meanwhile, due to their hectic schedule, junior colleagues such as Andy Lau, Tony Leung (Chiu Wai) and wife Carina Lau, Sean Lau and the others all sent floral arrangements instead.

So Hung Suen's husband Hui Sing Biu, son Hui Fung Lun and daughter Hui Ka Kei were also present at the event that was held at 3.30pm. As the actress is known for her charitable nature, donation boxes were set up at the venue, to be used for the construction of "So Hung Suen Memorial School" in Cambodia.

Meanwhile, good friend, Nina Paw lamented, "I've known her for over 10 years. I called her last year to congratulate her on her Hong Kong Film Award. We promised to have dinner together but didn't seem to find time to do so. If you have something that you want to do, just do it, or else it would be too late. I really miss her."

On 12 June, So Hung Suen passed away due to diabetes related heart failure. Her body will be transported to Diamond Hill Crematorium for cremation and the ashes will be placed in Cham Shan Monastery in Clearwater Bay.

She was 64-years-old.
