4 Sept - Ikuta Toma would be starring in Fuji TV's drama series "Osozaki no Himawari: Boku no Jinsei, Renewal", making his first lead appearance after three and a half years.
According to Tokyo Hive, Ikuta plays as Joutarou, an unemployed man who joins a 'renewal group' with several other members in the countryside prefecture of Kochi, along the Shimanto River. Joutarou is a member of the 'lost generation'; a name given to those who are jobless after graduating from school and have lost their direction in life.
"There have already been many great dramas about unique groups of people living together in regional towns. I want this drama to prove that our generation can create something just as wonderful as those masterpieces and meet everyone's expectations of a drama about a youthful crowd," Ikuta said.
Apart from Joutarou, "Osozaki no Himawari" would also focus on the lives of the other characters from the 'renewal group' played by Maki Yoko as the main heroine, Kiritani Kenta, Kashii Yu, Emoto Tasuku, Kimura Fumino, as well as Kuninaka Ryoko.
"Osozaki no Himawari" would begin airing in October.
