Jacky Cheung wants different paths for daughters

31 Jul – He may be one of the biggest stars in Hong Kong, but Cantopop Heavenly King, Jacky Cheung, hopes that his daughters will not follow his footsteps into showbiz.

As reported on Groove Asia, at the press conference to announce the release of his "Jacky Cheung ½ Century Tour" concert DVD on 19 July, the singer admitted that both of his daughters; 13-year-old Zoe and 8-year-old Zia inherited his passion for singing, but revealed that he has reservations about them becoming artistes.

Jacky expressed, "Both Zoe and Zia love singing, though they mostly sing children songs. But if possible, I hope that they won't be singers in future."

The singer stated that while singing is a good thing, he is more worried about the extra baggage that comes with it, such as fame and fortune.

"Fame and fortune can do harm more than good. I love them so much and I don't want them to face that unnecessary pain," said Jacky.

However, the singer stated that there is nothing he can do if they insist on becoming singers.
