As Psy’s Gangnam Style shows no signs of slowing down, the hallyu wave is being rediscovered and reevaluated.
Critics who have stated that the effects of the hallyu wave are just an exaggeration have been proven wrong with the power of Gangnam Style.
The Korean Wave is no longer a short-lived concept, but is now becoming a stable and important cultural element.
‘KCON 2012: ALL THINGS HALLYU’, which will take place at the Verizon Wireless Amphitheatre in Irvine, California, will be playing an important role in spreading hallyu culture.
′KCON 2012’ is different from other K-pop concerts, as it will provide opportunities for American fans to directly communicate with stars and establish a community. Other concerts have just been a one-time event, but ‘KCON 2012’ will have a wide range of events prepared for fans the entire day.
A celebrity panel and fan signing event will take place at 10 am (PST), and fans can directly participate in the UCC contest, cover dance contest, game contest, and Korean cultural workshops.
Many of the K-pop artists who will be performing at the concert will be signing autographs and backup dancers will also be teaching fans famous k-pop choreography.
4minute, G.Na, EXO-M, VIXX, and B.A.P have been confirmed to perform so far, and the lineup continues to expand.
