By Joginder Tuteja, Glamsham EditorialWhile it is a known fact that Alia Bhatt had to go through an intense fitness regime before being finalized by Karan Johar for STUDENT OF THE YEAR, it wasn't as difficult when it came to the leading men since the filmmaker had already made up his mind about his choices long ago.
"Sidharth Malhotra as well as Varun Dhawan had assisted me in MY NAME IS KHAN and were involved in the process of production right throughout. Moreover they also observed me quite closely as a director. What I like about them is that they are totally different from each other, be in terms of personality or energy. I realised that they had the faces that were for cinema and it was about time that they were seen on the big screen," details Karan.
Thereafter it was nothing less than a fairy tale for the two youngsters as they were immediately brought on board and preparations began for them to be comfortable enough to foray into acting.
"We did workshops and they were found to be right for the roles. They have this enduring charm to them and though they had some rough edges, I knew that they had potential to face the camera. Moreover after watching the film, you would realise that they have this correct celluloid presence. While Sidharth has the right restraint to play Abhi, Varun carries good enough flamboyance to play Rohan," says Karan.
With Rishi Kapoor in the role of a Dean, STUDENT OF THE YEAR has music by Vishal-Shekhar and releases all over on 19th October 2012.
