26 Apr – Boy band KAT-TUN were not surprised by former member Akanishi Jin's marriage to actress Kuroki Meisa but admitted that they did not know about it until it was announced.
According to Tokyo Hive, the boy band from Johnny's Entertainment; the same agency as Akanishi, were asked to comment about Akanishi's marriage during a press conference at their concert in the Tokyo Dome on 22 April.
Member Kamenashi Kazuya did not seem very concerned about the marriage of ex-member Akanishi but revealed that they were more surprised about his decision to leave the band in 2006, to study abroad.
"We weren't surprised about it. His decision to study abroad back in 2006 came as the biggest shock. As ex-members, frankly speaking without any sort of contact from him, it is really difficult to give out any comments. But I suppose we are the 5 of the most unshaken people in the world," he said.
Nevertheless, the members of the band still congratulated Akanishi on his marriage and hoped that he would be more responsible for his actions as a man and soon-to-be father.
"Now that you have a partner, I hope you'll be able to take care of her, and be even more responsible for your actions, even more so than before. This is a comment not so much as to an ex-member but more as a comment to a man.
"So, please be responsible for your actions and please be happy. There's a child on the way, and your wife, it is no longer just your problem solely," Kamenashi added.
KAT-TUN is currently in the middle of their 'Chains' tour, their first tour in two years, which will be ending in Sendai on 28 April.
