Katie Holmes “doesn’t know” if having a daughter brought her closer to Tom Cruise.
The actress filed for divorce from the star at the end of last month and they settled the terms of the split in less than two weeks.
Katie gave an interview to C Magazine just seven days before she filed papers to end their union.
During the discussion, she appeared unsure of the impact that raising six-year-old Suri had on her and Tom.
“I don’t know. I mean…I don’t know. People have been having babies a long time,” she replied, when asked if Suri brought them closer.
According to WWD, the magazine’s senior editor Kelsey McKinnon conducted the interview. She had no idea Katie was planning to end her relationship, although in the article she admits there were some signs all wasn’t right.
“Holmes was certainly very aware of herself, laying a couple cards on the table but never showing her whole hand,” she says. “Most noticeably, the one name decisively absent from her lexicon: Tom Cruise. She never actually refers to him by name over pages and pages of transcription.”
