Kevin Tsai suffers from Bell's palsy

3 Oct – Not long after Kevin Tsai was announced as both host and judge for the 50th Golden Horse Awards, the TV personality has been diagnosed with Bell's palsy, reported Sina website.

Bell's palsy is a paralysis or weakness of the muscles on one side of the face caused by damage to the facial nerves that controls the muscles. However, most people with Bell's palsy start to regain normal facial function within 3 weeks, even those who do not receive treatment.

According to Kevin's doctor, his facial paralysis was caused by exhaustion and poor immunity, adding that the 51-year-old host may need a lot of rest to get better.

The "Kangxi Lai Le" host, who first discovered signs of the paralysis when he had speech problems and deteriorating appetite, has already sought treatment a couple of weeks ago and stressed that he is already on the road to recovery.

Kevin stated, "I am doing fine now. My doctor said that I may recover around mid-October. Thank you for your concern."

When asked if the condition would affect his Golden Horse Awards job, his assistant assured that Kevin will have no problem doing it, as he loves judging movies, and light-heartedly added, "It may be interesting if he wears a face mask to the award ceremony!"
