Lee Yoon Ji Thought She was an Alien Growing Up

Believing she was not a human being, actress Lee Yoon Ji shared an experience she had while growing up.

On October 30’s SBS Strong Heart, Lee Yoon Ji shared that she thought she was an alien because of a weirdly shaped scar on her ankle.

“I’ve had this scar on my ankle since I was born, so I thought I was an alien. I believe that it must mean something and then when the right time comes, I’ll return to the green planet,” said the actress. “So I used to keep this a secret and be cynical to my friends, but I later found out how I got the scar after I grew up.”

She explained to the studio audience that she was born premature and lived in an incubator for a very long time. As a baby, she almost lost her life twice and needed to be administered drugs. But because her mother said a girl should not have scars on her wrist, Lee Yoon Ji received the medical care through her ankle, which is why she had the odd scar there.

Lee Yoon Ji continued to say that her mother kept all the receipts and baby clothes from the time Lee Yoon Ji lived in an incubator. “She jokes that she’s determined to get back the 100 million won that she spent on keeping me alive back.”

Saying the scar is a proof of her parents’ love for her, Lee Yoon Ji turned to the camera to say a message to her mother.

“I promise to become a great actress and repay all of those receipts back. Thank you for raising me like this,” said the actress,

“You two are so precious that it makes me dizzy just thinking about it. I believe that I made it this far because of your love. I’ll continue to be the proud daughter that you won’t be ashamed of calling daughter. I love you!”
