12 Sep - Chinese actress Li Bingbing has refused to attend the Japanese premiere of her major Hollywood appearance in "Resident Evil: Retribution" over the dispute between China and Japan on the ownership of the Diaoyu Islands.
According to Asian Bite, Li's agent had stated that the actress was too busy to attend the premiere due to her work in Beijing, but did not deny that her absence could have been politically motivated.
"We are in line with our government - the Diaoyu Islands belong to China. Bingbing will be attending movie premieres held in other places across the world and she skipped the Tokyo leg only." said the agent.
Li Bingbing, who plays as Ada Wong in "Resident Evil: Retribution", most recently visited Malaysia for its premiere on 7 September.
