Liza Wang lost nearly 3 million in burglary
25 Jul – Hong Kong actress Liza Wang is upset that her house in Tseung Kwan O was broken into and robbed recently, amounting to a loss of nearly HKD 3 million (app. USD 386,733) worth of cash and jewellery.
According to Sina, the burglary occurred on 23 July around 9pm when Liza's domestic helper was out walking her dog. In only 20 minutes, the burglar cleverly made his way to the house using areas not captured by the CCTV, and stole a safe box consisting of Canadian, Hong Kong and Chinese currencies, as well as some of Liza's jewellery.
In her Weibo, Liza wrote, "Last night, my house was broken into. The thief took with him a safe box, cash, jewellery, wedding ring and passport within 20 minutes. It was lucky that nobody was at home or got injured. This is the third burglary in 20 years. It's even luckier than a lottery strike!"
The 65-year-old actress said that she was especially sad about the loss of her wedding ring and accessories given her by her mother and deceased sister.
"I hope the police will do something to protect the citizens' lives and properties!" It was alleged that recent renovation work at the estate may have made it easier for the burglar to commit the crime.
