Madhur Bhandarkar Lands In Legal Trouble Over 'Fashion' Copyright Issues

Post relief in Preeti Jain rape case, Madhur Bhandarkar must have thought 'no more courts', but destiny, we guess, has some different plans for the filmmaker.

Recently, a complaint was lodged against Bhandarkar for allegedly stealing the plot and idea of his 2008 release Fashion from a book, without giving credit to its author. The complainant, Seema Seth, an actress-turned-author, has claimed that the film's plot has been lifted from her book El-Dorado. The book was released three months before Fashion's release in October 2008.

Seth has also filed the case against Ronnie Screwvala of UTV Motion Pictures and has sought a compensation of Rs. 2.5 crore.

Reacting to the petition, Madhur tweeted, "Now someone has gone to court for the copyright infringement of my film FASHION after 4 years and demanding 2.5 crores.. in the past my films PAGE 3,TRAFFIC SIGNAL and JAIL claiming to be their concepts were dismissed by legal courts and writers association."

"I am sure they will be ready with their petition for my upcoming film#HEROINE also which is in making right now for their 15secs of Fame," he further added.
