"Police Story" features new story

27 Apr – Martial arts superstar Jackie Chan had chosen the 2013 Beijing International Film Festival (BIFF) to be the medium for the public screening of the sixth "Police Story" instalment, "Police Story 2013".

According to Jayne Stars website, Jackie and the other casts were seen attending the screening dressed in black, with a green ribbon affixed to their clothing, to express their mourning for the victims of the Sichuan Ya'an earthquake.

While speaking to the media, Ding Sheng the movie director, revealed, "Police Story 2013" will be a continuation of the classic "Police Story" brand only in name. It may share the same name but it's going to have a brand new story and breaks away from the traditional "cop movie" genre."

"The movie integrates many styles from cop, action, suspense, to crime," Ding Sheng added.

Meanwhile, Jackie revealed that the movie felt like a brand-new attempt for him, and stated, "I had a lot of 'first times' in this movie and I'm looking forward to it very much."

"Police Story 2013" is currently in post-production and is expected to open in theatres this year. The movie also stars mainland Chinese actor Liu Ye and actress Jing Tian.
