Princess Charlene of Monacco Debuts a New Pixie Crop in Monte Carlo

There’s nothing like going for a pixie crop to get everyone talking.  Emma Watson, Rihanna, Carey Mulligan, Michelle Williams Victoria Beckham, Katie Holmes and (most recently), Anne Hathaway, are all among the women who have gone for the crop and consequently racked up literally thousands of column lines.

Sometimes a haircut is just a haircut or straightforward slavery to a trend, but from where we are standing, there are other times when a dramatic hairstyle change seems to be as much of a personal statement.  Short, cropped, boyish hair iis arguably the polar opposite of having long girlish flowing locks which might, on a basic level, be considered the womanly ideal.  Chopping long hair off therefore, often enough seems to be about liberation and saying “This is the real me” – A bit of a two fingers up to looking super-girly and sticking with the crowd.  Indeed, when Emma Watson got hers she said  "I've wanted to do this for years and years . . . it's the most liberating thing ever." Interesting right?

The latest lady to pick up a pixie is Princess Charlene of Monacco (you know, the wife of Albert II, Prince of Monaco who alledgedly attempted  a pre-wedding runner when she found out that her huspand to be had fathered a 3^rd illegitimate child last summer!), who debuted her new “do” during this weekends’  Monte Carlo Tennis Masters.  Yikes. True or otherwise, we think Charlene’s long pixie is quite cute.  Smooth and sleek it makes the royal looker fresher, happier, more empowered and well, we love it. Watch this space!
