Psy Breaks Guinness Record with Number of Likes on ′Gangnam Style′ MV

The music video for Gangnam Style has made it into the Guinness Book of World Records as the video with the most ′likes′ on YouTube.

On September 20, Guinness World Records announced that Korean singer Psy rewrote the record for YouTube ′likes′ with his music video.

According to Guinness World Records, Psy′s music video gathered 2,141,728 likes in a short time since it was first uploaded on July 15. This surpasses by far the number of likes for LMFAO′s Party Rock Anthem (1,574,963), Justin Bieber′s Baby (1,327,147) and Adele′s Rolling In the Deep (1,245,641).

Its notice said about Psy, "Psy is a South Korean singer, songwriter, and rapper. Gangnam Style, his most successful single to date, is the most viewed K-Pop video on YouTube. This also marks the first time a South Korean artist has topped the iTunes charts."

Dan Barrett, Community Manager for Guinness World Records, was quoted saying, "Having been the ′Have you seen this?!′ video of the last two months across the web, it′s great to be able to award a record for this tremendously popular video. In years past it was unthinkable that something would be viewed a hundred million times, and now Gangnam Style has achieved more than twice this figure in just three months on YouTube."

The committee added that the document listing the record has been prepared in its office and that Psy can pick it up any time he wants.
