Is Deepika Padukone getting a second hand treatment in Cocktail? Well, at least for a song and dance routine. This is what appears to be the case, what with a song title Second Hand Jawani featuring in her upcoming film. The twist in the tale though is that the song was earlier composed for Agent Vinod which had Kareena Kapoor in the lead.
Informs our source, "Composer Pritam had made Second Hand Jawaani for Agent Vinod. However the song was dropped from the album since it wasn't fitting into the overall plans for the film. Since the song has a very perky tune to it, Saif felt that it could be much better utilised in a film that boasted of fun elements. With Cocktail as well as Agent Vinod being his home production and Pritam being a common element, it was an easy decision to make."
Second Hand Jawaani soon found itself out of equation though there was no sorrow for Kareena since she had a mujra (Dil Mera Muft Ka). Though it isn't known whether Dil Mera Muft Ka was composed for the same situation where Second Hand Jawaani was the original choice (it doesn't seem improbable though), the fact of the matter is that in the bargain, it is Deepika Padukone who turned lucky.
"Even though it may be tagged as a 'second hand' song for Deepika, the fact of the matter is that she has a hit in hands", adds a source close to the actress, "Now she can jive to the tune all by herself. In any case her song-n-dance pairing with Saif Ali Khan has been red hot and together they had created magic in Aahun Aahun as well as Chor Bazari (both Love Aaj Kal). Now with Second Hand Jawaani, there is all the more fun in the offin."
Guess it may well turn out to be Kareena's loss after all, considering the fact that her Dil Mera Muft Ka hardly created any ripples.
