Shawn Yue absent from "SDU" event
17 Jul – After his online outburst regarding the misuse of his breakup for his upcoming movie's publicity and the apology that came after, Hong Kong actor Shawn Yue was a no-show at a recent promotional event for the movie.
According to Xinmin website, "SDU: Sex Duties Unit" stars Chapman To and Liu Anqi attended the promotional event of the movie without Shawn, sparking speculations of a conflict between the actor and the production company, Asia Media.
When asked if the actor was absent due to the recent controversy, Chapman joked, "Shawn' rumoured girlfriend Liu Anqi is here as his representative!"
Meanwhile, when asked about the dating rumour, mainland actress Liu Anqi simply laughed it off and said, "I thought that the rumour was odd." Last week, the actor went online to pour his dissatisfaction with false reports regarding his breakup with Kary Ng, and stated his frustration that it was used for the movie's publicity. It triggered speculations that Shawn was actually criticising the production company of his new movie, Asia Media.
However, the actor later apologised online, and clarified that his frustration was not aimed at the company but to reporters who made up rumours about him. However, it only triggered another rumour that the apology was forced after he received a warning from the company.
