8 May – Steven Ma has recently made his directorial debut by helming his own music videos in preparation for his album release.
As reported on Groove Asia, with his new album releasing in June, the actor spent 22 hours directing three music videos for his songs, "For Mother: Weary", "An Understanding", and "Wish Come True".
When asked on his thoughts of directing his own music videos for the first time, Steven stated, "The whole process was both tiring and stressful. I personally handled the whole process from groundwork preparation to location, setting, editing and all other post-production work."
He admitted that it made him realise that behind-the-scenes work is hard, stating, "Being a director for the first time, I think one should be able to multi-task and to be able to think on his feet while shooting. The experience is quite exhausting but also very exhilarating and very satisfying."
Steven disclosed that the finished music videos are currently being edited and hopes that he will get the opportunity to shoot other singers' music videos for a change.
