‘Superstar K4’ Records Highest Rating with ‘Gangnam Style’ Remake

The ‘original audition program,’ Mnet’s Superstar K4 (SSK4) entered into Super Week and gained attention from viewers, rising in viewer ratings.

On September 14, SSK4 recorded the highest rating of 8.9 percent and average of 7.7 percent according to AGB Nielson Media Research and Mnet+KM.

The people who viewed the most were women in their 30s, 20s, and 20s, and by regions, Ulsan and Masan received a double digit rating, followed by an average of 10 percent in Gyeonggi, Incheon, and Kwangju.

The moment with the highest rating was when Yoo Seung Woo and Kim Jung Hwan, two strong candidates for the show, and their team collaborated in the Super Week mission to sing a new rendition of Psy’s Gangnam Style.

Following the broadcast, social networking sites were continuous talking about SSK4. Contestants Roy Kim, Jung Jun Young, Oh Seo Jung, Yeon Kyu Sung, Yoo Seung Ho, and Dickpunks also appeared on the most searched charts.

Tving, which also airs basic cable, revealed that 81 percent of its viewers were watching SSK4, meaning eight out 10 people were watching the audition program.

Meanwhile, the contestants who stood out during the regional audition appeared on this day’s broadcast and showed various kinds of charms. One affiliate of Mnet said, “This season out of all the seasons will probably hold the fiercest battle ever.”
