9 Oct – It was revealed that Stephen Fung's much raved about movie, "Tai Chi Zero" has surpassed the RMB 100 million mark in mainland China.
According to Groove Asia website, the actor-turned-director who recently signed with Paradigm Agency, revealed that his latest endeavour; a martial arts-meets-steampunk film, had reached RMB 100 million (app. USD 15,910,100) gaining worldwide interest after its participation in the Venice and Toronto International Film Festival.
Asked about his new title as the "100 Million Man" and Angelababy as the "100 Million Female Star"; Stephen Fung said, "The entire team gets credit for the film's good performance, so there is no such thing like the hundred-million director or female star, male star. It should be hundred-million production team. This achievement is worth sharing with everyone."
He added, "Tai Chi Zero was a highly difficult challenge for me from day one. The most challenging was to mix in video game ideas into the traditional Kung Fu film."
Regarding his contract with Paradigm Agency, the actor stated, "In the future I will have different new attempts, including working with Paradigm Agency. Although right now we don't have any plan and everything is being analysed, I believe it will help with my overseas development in the future."
