14 Sep – Actor Tony Leung (Chiu Wai) has been cast in an upcoming Japanese movie, "1905".
According to Tokyo Hive website, the actor will join other Japanese casts such as former AKB48 singer Atsuko Maeda and actor Shota Matsuda in a film about imperialism and globalisation in Japan at the beginning of the 20th century, directed by horror-film director, Kiyoshi Kurosawa.
Tony will be playing the role of a loan shark named Yan Yun Long who travels to Japan to collect money from five Chinese men and met an ultranationalist named Tamotsu Kato (Shota Matsuda) who was ordered to force the same five men to return to their native country.
The actor was quoted saying, "I have always admired Kurosawa's works and am very excited to get to work with him now. I will treasure the experience and enjoy every single moment filming the movie."
Filming of "1905" will commence in November and the movie is scheduled for release at the end of 2013.
