TVB to ban future piecemeal scripts
26 May – TVB's Assistant General Manager, Peter Au recently announced their new employee benefits, which include an interesting term that states that from 2014 onwards, all series must have at least 80% of the script completed before filming commencement.
According to TVB News World, despite the many benefits, the new script condition was the one that attracted the attention of many, as it was also the issue that has been put forward by "Beauty At War" actress, Sheren Tang and caused her suspension by the company.
When asked about the new condition, TVB executive, Virginia Lok denied that it was made due to the controversy surrounding "Beauty At War", saying, "This is good news for the artistes. But it has nothing to do with the case of "Beauty At War". It's just that if the issue was not resolved, it will always be there and will be wasting resources." In regards to Sheren's suspension, Virginia expressed, "Some artistes are straightforward when they speak. But we bear no hard feelings and hope it will be fine soon."
Meanwhile, in addition to fuller scripts, the new terms include eight to nine hours of rest time in between each scene, an increase of behind-the-scenes crew members to help reduce the workload, and recruitment of former artistes.
