TVB restricts artistes from going to China

2 Nov – Rumour has it that Hong Kong's largest broadcasting company, TVB, will be implementing a new policy that restricts their artistes from filming mainland Chinese dramas.

As reported on HK Channel website, sources alleged that the company has decided to implement the new rules due to the outflow of TVB actors to mainland productions, seeing that there are bigger opportunities in the north than in Hong Kong.

Though TVB originally allowed their artistes to work outside the station, the trend seemed to have caused problems to the company itself when more and more of its stars turned down local drama offers in favour for the higher-paying mainland Chinese productions, leaving TVB with limited number of actors for their own production.

Thus, it was reported that TVB has beginning to slowly cut down activities and casting opportunities from mainland producers, as well as demanding their artistes to fill the empty slots in their schedule for TVB-related activities.
