TVB staff: No change in working hours!
8 Nov – Despite TVB Executive Chairman Norman Leung's introduction of the TVB Family Culture initiative that include new rules on filming hours, many are criticising the company for not being able to practice what they preach.
As reported on HK Channel website, while the Family Culture, which had been introduced more than a week ago, stipulated that studio filming should not exceed ten hours at a time and twelve hours for outdoor shoots, workers revealed that they are still working overtime and that some of the artistes are still filming 18 hours a day.
A source confessed, "Although the initiative has been announced more than ten days ago, it was only theoretical. Right now, TVB is filming five dramas simultaneously."
Some of the actors have also been filming more than the stipulated hours and only get a good three-hour rest each day. Kate Tsui previously stated that while the new rules are good, there was no change in her hectic schedule.
When asked of their opinion regarding the stipulated hours, Roger Kwok and Kristal Tin, who are currently filming "The Good And The Bad" claimed, "Although sometimes we do have insufficient rest, the overall hours have been normalised and the schedule is acceptable."
In regards to the issue, TVB Deputy Director of External Affairs, Tsang Sing Ming stated that some productions may need a little bit of adjustment and therefore need more time to change.
He added, "We have been using the old working method for quite a long time, so of course the new system will have to be implemented slowly."
