Wanna See The Wedding Ring Mark Zuckerberg Designed For Priscilla Chan?

We’ve seen the dress, heard all about the menu (sushi and chocolate mice) and breathed a sigh of relief that the groom didn’t wear a hoodie. And now, we’ve finally got a glance at the wedding ring that Mark Zuckerberg designed for his bride.

The Facebook founder’s new wife Priscilla Chan was spotted having lunch in her hometown of Palo Alto, California this week where she showed off her ring in public for the first time. Reportedly designed by Mark himself, the goldband features a solitary ruby in the centre.

Rubies are generally cheaper than diamonds, but money is obviously not an issue for the man worth $20billion. Instead, it is thought Zuckerberg may have picked the stone for its cultural significance to Priscilla, who is Asian-American, as it is held inhigh esteem in Asia. One jewellery expert said that a “safe estimate” for the ring would probably be around $25,000 and the ruby could go from $8,000-10,000 alone.

With her husband’s whooping bank balance, Priscilla could easily have demanded an eye-wateringly expensive diamond. But this is a couple who prefer to keep things low key. For their wedding ceremony they shunned flashy venues and chose to wed in er, Mark’s backyard in Palo Alto, California. Mark announced the union by – obviously – changing his relationship status to ‘married’ on Facebook.

With Priscilla still in Palo Alto, it appears they haven’t splashed out on an expensive honeymoon, either. Now, we’re all for low-key but, c’mon Mark, treat the lady to a weekend at the seaside, at least.
