31 May was L'Arc~en~Ciel Day

6 June – In Honolulu, 31 May is, henceforth, L'Arc~en~Ciel Day!

According to Tokyo Hive, the mayor of Honolulu has dedicated the date in honour of Japanese rock band L'Arc~en~Ciel when they ended their world tour at the Waikiki Shell on the date itself.

L'Arc~en~Ciel performed a total of 21 songs for fans, including "Honey" and "Niji".

Since it was the first time that the band had performed on the island, Mayor Peter Carlisle made a surprise appearance and commissioned a celebration of that date to thank the Japanese band for building a bridge between the Japanese and Hawaiians.

L'Arc~en~Ciel is the third Japanese artist to receive such an honour from Honolulu, with 1 June being TUBE day, declared in 2000 whilst 30 and 31 March were Arashi day, declared in 2002.
