AKB48's "1830m" tops Oricon twice

2 Sept – AKB48 managed to top the weekly Oricon chart for two weeks consecutively for the first time with their latest album "1830m".

According to Tokyo Hive, the album reached the top of the weekly Oricon charts for the week of 3 September, having sold a total of 935,000 copies for the past two weeks. It is the first album from a female artist that sold more than 900,000 copies in two weeks since Ayumi Hamasaki's "Rainbow", which was released in back in January 2003.

In addition, being the top ranking album for two consecutive weeks is also an accomplishment that has not been reached by a female group within the past nine years since the record made by 12 Girl's Band's "Joshi Juni Gakubou ~ Beautiful Energy~" instrumental album in 2003.

"1830m" was released on 15 August and is the last album with Maeda Atsuko as an AKB48 member, who graduated after her last performance at the AKB48 theatre on 27 August.
