"American Dreams in China" grabs major awards

3 Sep – Peter Chan's critically acclaimed 2013 movie "American Dreams in China" has recently became the biggest winner at the 12th Changchun Film Festival.

According to ECNS News, the movie, starring Huang Xiaoming, Tong Dawei and Deng Chao, won five major awards at the closing ceremony held on 31 August, including Best Feature Film, Best Director and Best Supporting Actor for Tong Dawei.

It also won Best Actor for Huang Xiaoming, who beat other strong competition including Liao Fan and Chen Daoming.

Meanwhile, actress Gong Li won Best Actress for her performance in Zhang Yimou's "Coming Home", believed to be the first of many awards to come, as predicted by industry insiders.

"American Dreams in China" tells the story of three friends who build a successful English language school in China called "New Dream", only to face a lot of difficulties when they try to list the company on the American stock market.
