Andy Lau's baby dragon girl is born

11 May – 51-year-old Andy Lau is finally a father! His Malaysian wife, Carol Chu, went into labour on 8 May, and delivered their first child at a hospital in Hong Kong.

According to Jayne Stars, their good friend, TVB actress Carol Cheng, was the first one to make the announcement that Andy's daughter was born at the Hong Kong Sanatorium and Hospital on 8 May.

Born in the auspicious Year of the Dragon, the baby girl weighed a healthy 6 pounds (approximately 2.7 kilogrammes).

The good news soon spread over the Chinese micro-blogging site, Weibo, and many turned out to express their congratulatory wishes and joy to the new parents.

"That's great! My idol's daughter is born! I wish their entire family the best! Hope that the baby girl is healthy and his wife has a speedy recovery!" said Hong Kong actress Ada Choi on her Weibo.

However, the excitement escalated when Hong Kong singer-actor Jordan Chan later posted a photo of a newborn baby on his Weibo account.

Although the singer did not caption the photo and refused to comment, everyone speculated that it was a photo of Lau's new 'little dragon girl' as there were some physical similarities, such as Lau's big eyes and straight nose.

Meanwhile, the Hong Kong and Chinese media have been unable to contact Lau, who has been known to be a private person, nor his manager to confirm the delivery.

The arrival of Lau's daughter has been highly-anticipated since it was revealed that his 49-year-old wife was pregnant last year. It was also reported that the couple had consulted Feng Shui masters to choose an appropriate time and date for the baby to be delivered, although she was expected in June.
