Ann Hui has mixed feelings about her new movie

16 Apr – Hong Kong filmmaker Ann Hui recently admitted that she has mixed feelings towards her upcoming film, "The Golden Era".

As reported on CRI, while speaking to the media at the press conference to announce the film's release on 15 April, Ann said that the movie which chronicles the life of Chinese writer Xiao Hong, is an experimental film and therefore is unsure of the reception from the audience.

"I am unsure about the reception and I am nervous about the budget invested for the movie. But at the same time I'm happy that I made it," she said.

The movie stars Tang Wei as a Chinese novelist, who is dubbed one of the most important female writers in contemporary China, while Feng Shaofeng plays the role of her partner and newspaper editor, Xiao Jun.

In regards to Tang Wei's performance, Ann stated, "I will let the audience be the final judge. But to me, she did a great job."
