Avex opens audition for female delinquents
31 Jul - Major Japanese label Avex is auditioning female delinquents, otherwise known as 'yankees', to form a new concept idol group.
According to Tokyo Hive, Avex has opened a "'Yankee' Idol Audition" to all females to make their debut as 'tough idols'; an almost opposite to the cute idols that is the norm in the Japanese music industry.
The participants would not only be judged based on their appearance and singing ability, but also their way of life and values, in order to pass the audition.
The new idol group would be managed by a new label under Avex.
