This week's (Wednesday) new release, Yash Raj Films' Salman-Katrina starrer, EK THA TIGER, has embarked on an expected and predicted hurricane like start. The opening is uniformly superb across all circuits and the collections are expected to remain at a high level, at least till a couple of days after Eid. As per early estimations the film may have netted an astonishing and record breaking 29-30 crore (approx.) on the opening day itself! A section of the trade feels that if Eid falls on Monday (20th August), EK THA TIGER may well end up netting in the range of 155-165 crore during the first nine days itself!

From the bunched releases of last week- GANGS OF WASSEYPUR II, OVERTIME and SECOND MARRIGE DOT COM - it was just GOW II (released on Wednesday), which managed to redeem itself. During the first extended weekend (5-days), the Nawazuddin and Huma starrer, GANGS OF WASSYPUR II, has netted a decent 16-17 crores (to be validated) from India. The film may end up as an average fare and would have done better had it not been for the EK TA TIGER wave. The rest of the mentioned releases have been totally rejected.

Moving on, after a good opening weekend, the collections of Pooja Bhatt's Sunny Leone starrer, JISM 2, crashed Monday onwards, but still the first week can be termed as good to decent. During the week JISM 2 collected 3.25 crore from Bombay (collections from other cinemas unreceived), 91 lakhs from Ahmedabad, 45 lakhs from Surat, 30.25 lakhs from Baroda, 20 lakhs from Rajkot, 1 crore from Pune, 17 lakhs from Nasik, 21.75 lakhs from Goa, 6 lakhs from Belgaum, 3 crore from Delhi city, 36.75 lakhs from Noida, 30 lakhs from Ghaziabad, 30 lakhs from Kanpur, 45 lakhs from Lucknow, 14 lakhs from Agra, 15 lakhs from Allahabad, 6 lakhs from Aligarh, 50 lakhs from Gurgaon, 10.50 lakhs from Faridabad, 16.50 lakhs from Chandigarh, 20 lakhs from Jalandhar, 5.65 lakhs from Amritsar, 6 lakhs from Ludhiana, 4.50 lakhs from Bhatinda, 4.65 lakhs from Ambala, 91 lakhs from Calcutta, 1.50 lakhs from Darjeeling, 8.60 lakhs from Siliguri, 3 lakhs from Guwahati, 30 lakhs from Nagpur, 15.55 lakhs from Jabalpur, 14.75 lakhs from Raipur, 30 lakhs from Indore (collections from 2 cinemas unreceived), 6.50 lakhs from Gwalior (collections from 6 cinemas unreceived), 20 lakhs from Bhopal, 50.35 lakhs from Jaipur (collections from 5 cinemas unreceived), 8.65 lakhs from Ajmer, 6.50 lakhs from Bikaner, 14.25 lakhs from Kota, 18.55 lakhs from Hyderabad (collections from other cinemas unreceived), 8 lakhs from Aurangabad (collections from 6 cinemas unreceived), 40 lakhs from Bangalore, 2.65 lakhs from Vijayawada, 4.50 lakhs from Visakhapatnam, 4.20 lakhs from Madras (collections from other cinemas unreceived) and 1 .50 lakhs from Kochi. JISM 2 has netted around 27.50 crores (including paid previews) during the opening week from India. While the producers have made a good profit, the all-India distributor (Ponty Chaddha) will also make profits, but at the cost of various territorial distributors who stand to lose. JISM 2 has been rejected in the overseas.

Though Balaji Telefilms' KYAA SUPER KOOL HAIN HUM saw a huge fall during the second week, the film maintained well at select cinemas. During the second week KYAA SUPER KOOL HAIN HUM collected 75 lakhs from Bombay (collections from other cinemas unreceived), 40 lakhs from Ahmedabad, 7.65 lakhs from Surat, 6.15 lakhs from Baroda (collections from 6 cinemas unreceived), 4.50 lakhs from Rajkot, 10 lakhs from Pune, 5 lakhs from Nasik, 1.75 lakhs from Goa, 1.50 lakhs from Belgaum, 60 lakhs from Delhi city, 8.20 lakhs from Noida, 7.15 lakhs from Ghaziabad, 6.75 lakhs from Kanpur, 10 lakhs from Lucknow, 5.35 lakhs from Agra, 2 lakhs from Allahabad, 1.25 lakhs from Aligarh, 10 lakhs from Gurgaon, 2 lakhs from Faridabad, 5.20 lakhs from Chandigarh, 5 lakhs from Jalandhar, 2 lakhs from Amritsar, 1 lakh from Ludhiana, 1 lakh from Ambala, 11 lakhs from Calcutta, 2 lakhs from Siliguri, 10.50 lakhs from Nagpur, 5.55 lakhs from Jabalpur, 5.50 lakhs from Raipur, 14.25 lakhs from Indore, 3 lakhs from Gwalior (collections from 2 cinemas unreceived), 5 lakhs from Bhopal, 20 lakhs from Jaipur (collections from 5 cinemas unreceived), 4 lakhs from Ajmer, 2.50 lakhs from Bikaner, 4 lakhs from Kota, 3 lakhs from Hyderabad (collections from other cinemas unreceived), (collections from other cinemas unreceived), 2 lakhs from Aurangabad (collections from 3 cinemas unreceived) and 5.50 lakhs from Bangalore. Adding another 8 crores, KYAA SUPER KOOL HAIN HUM, has netted 43 crores in two weeks from India. The Riteish-Tusshar starrer is a hit. The film though has disappointed in the overseas grossing and#163;62,000 from UK and $130,000 from the US till the third weekend (10-12 August).

Checking out Homi Adajania's Saif, Deepika and Diana starrer, COCKTAIL, the film added another 1.25 crore during the latest outing and has thus netted 77 crore in four weeks from India, and is a hit. COCKTAIL has also done quite well in the overseas grossing and#163;676,000 from UK and $1,234,000 till the fifth weekend (10-12 August).

Concluding with Rohit Shetty's Ajay, Abhishek and Asin starrer, BOL BACHCHAN, adding another 1.50 crore, the film has netted 100.50 crore in five weeks from India and is a clean hit. BOL BACHCHAN has also done very well in the overseas grossing and#163;415,000 from UK till the sixth weekend (10-12 August), and $1,222,100 from the US.
