Carina Lau works hard with or without an award

9 Apr – 2011 Hong Kong Film Awards' Best Actress Carina Lau has no expectations about this year's nominations, the Oriental Daily reported.

The actress, who recently won a similar title at the Osaka Asian Film Festival for her role in "Bends", will be competing for the 33rd HKFA's Best Supporting Actress accolade against Du Juan ("American Dreams in China"), Helena Law ("The White Storm"), Crystal Lee ("Unbeatable"), and Kara Hui ("Rigor Mortis") for her performance in "Young Detective Dee: Rise of the Sea Dragon".

Though she has won Best Actress through the "Detective Dee" franchise three years ago, Carina said that she will not lose her confidence if she doesn't win this year.

"I know my position, and I will work hard on my performance no matter if I win or not," said the actress.

Meanwhile, veteran actress Helena Law, who is nominated for the same award, stated that she never thought that she was still able to work at her age.

"The White Storm" actress, who is turning 80 this year, stated, "As long as my memory is clear and I still have the energy, I hope to continue to perform into my 90s!"
