14 Aug – Hong Kong actress Cecilia Cheung refused to make any comment regarding the recent news that her father was arrested by police for suspected criminal intimidation.

According to Jayne Stars, when reporters asked her about her father's arrest during the press conference for "The Lion Roars 2" in Beijing, she simply smiled but did not comment.

A spokesperson from her management, New Asia Entertainment Group (AEG), later responded on her behalf, saying that she will be facing the situation courageously, as her character would in the movie.

"In real life, Cecilia is very brave. She has encountered many family problems, but family members are given to us by heaven. Hopefully, everyone will be understanding and give her personal space," the spokesperson said.

Cecilia's father, Cheung Yan Yung, or famously known as 'Bearded Bravery' for his facial hair was arrested by Hong Kong police to assist in an investigation after two retail shops in the Yau Mei Tat district were splashed with red paint.

Yan Yung, who is believed to have ties with the local triad, was suspected to be involved in the case which appears to be part of a scare tactic by the triad to earn a maintenance contract from the owners of the shop lots in the district.

He was arrested together with another accomplice and was granted bail for his release.
