Cecilia Liu boycotts "The Patriot Yue Fei"
2 Jul – Mainland actress Cecilia Liu was nowhere to be seen at the promotional event of "The Patriot Yue Fei", feeding rumours of her conflict with her co-star Ruby Lin.
According to Huanqiu, sources claimed that Cecilia's absence from the promotional activities was intentional, as the actress was frustrated that the lead role was given to the Taiwanese actress-producer instead.
It was said that Cecilia was previously selected to be the leading lady alongside the leading man Huang Xiaoming. However, the role was given to Ruby Lin instead, since the drama's investors have a close relationship with the actress.
The decision frustrated Cecilia so much so that she did not even promote the drama on her Weibo and choose to publicise her new movie, "Badges Of Fury", only.
"The Patriot Yue Fei" depicts the life and times of the legendary military general Yue Fei (played by Huang Xiaoming). Ruby Lin plays his wife, while Cecilia Liu plays the role of Gao Chong's wife, Lady Yang.
