Cherry Ngan is happy to lose out to Zhang Ziyi

16 Apr – Though she did not win Best Actress at the recent Hong Kong Film Awards, actress Cherry Ngan said that she doesn't mind it at all, especially since she lost to Zhang Ziyi.

As reported on Mingpao, the actress said, "As [director] Adam Wong said, losing to Zhang Ziyi is really cool. It's also great if I lost to the other actresses as well, since they are all great actresses."

She also did not mind that the awards organiser misspelled her Chinese name as "Gan Cheuk Ling" instead of "Ngan Cheuk Ling", and was rectified by Nick Cheung.

Instead of lamenting on the error, she exclaimed, "I am happy, because it meant that Nick Cheung knows my name and knows who I am!"

In regards to Nick Cheung's words about Cherry needing to wait a little longer to win Best Actress, she said, "I do agree. I feel I have to work 10 more years to sharpen my acting skill."

When asked if she will get a raise in future due to her Best Actress nomination. Cherry said that she will let the company decide it for her, adding that she is currently negotiating two to three future films.
