Critics slam Chinese celebrities over attacks on Malaysia

31 Mar – The missing Malaysian plane MH370 case has triggered a lot of reaction from China, the country with the most victims of the tragedy, where dissatisfaction over the lack of more information about the case even garnered an unfavourable reaction from the entertainment industry.

While some Chinese stars including Zhang Ziyi, Meng Fei, Ada Choi and Chen Kun had voiced their displeasure, with the latter even threatening to boycott Malaysia, infuriated mainland Netizens had turned their anger towards Malaysian-born stars such as Fish Leong, Victor Wong, Gary Chaw and Shila Amzah.

However according to South China Morning Post, well-known critics such as Pan Caifu and Zhao Chu had panned the attacks over Malaysians, especially Malaysian stars working in China, and called it 'stupid'.

Pan also stated that some celebrities' negative remarks, such as Chen Kun's is irresponsible as it provokes anger among people.

Meanwhile, Zhao Chu stated that the Chinese people should pressure the Chinese government to establish a better coordination with the Malaysian government instead of lashing out towards those who have nothing to do with the flight disappearance.

Zhao also added that celebrities should refrain from abusing their influence as an artiste and in making irresponsible statements that only fuel people's wrath.
